Genesis Road, at Adams Bridge, which is almost 7.34 miles from the interstate, use I-40 for
your bearing mark to find this one on the map.
Take-out:
Keep driving on Genesis Road, look for the Genesis Checking Station on the left. From there
look for a road on the on the right. It will take you to "Potters Ford".
Overview:
This section of the Obed has a fun average of 50 feet per mile, and you can add to your paddle trip, from paddling
the Gould's Bend Section. This also makes a nice run when you don't want a long day. The first section of this run
is killer, it's all flat, a short boat will hate it here. Don't say you weren't warned.
The Creek:
As stated before the first section is flat for over 1.5 miles, it's brutal, but you will be rewarded after
your trudge to some nice Class II.6 whitewater.
From here the creek will start to constrict up and the boulders will start to appear, once thru this constriction.
Billy Goat Bluff will appear. This why you came, this is the biggest, only major rapid in this stretch..
"Billy Goaaaaaat" is a Class II.6 that you can boat scout for about 50 something yards, that ends with a 5 foot
slide drop.
From there it mellows out again until you paddle to the take-out.
***Warning label***
Whitewater
paddling is VERY Dangerous, and you should get
instruction before ever attempting even to paddle
flatwater. One of contributors to this web site
has personally helped bury 3 kayaking friends, this
isn't a joke. Whitewater paddling can ruin your
life through accidents and can effect your family
and friends throughout a lifetime.
The
information on this page is incomplete,
inaccurate, and very unreliable. Use
with caution. Whitewater paddling is a
dangerous sport and the information here is not a
substitute for actual knowledge and skill.

ahead and kill yourself if you want to, but don't
